Kinora is a private family timeline and kinship-management tool. Household books stay on this device. Kinora is not affiliated with any government or genealogy service.
1. Overview
Kinora (“we”) provides the iOS app Kinora. This policy explains what the app stores locally and what is not collected.
2. Information we keep
Names, relations, portraits, milestones, gift lists, and optional voice memories you add are stored locally on your device (UserDefaults and the app sandbox). Households are not shared with each other or a public network.
- Member portraits you take or choose from Photos
- Milestone photos attached to days on the Kin Scroll
- Optional voice memories recorded on a member page
- Gift lists, reminder offsets, and Kin Points balance
- Household names and kinship lines you draw on the map
This data is not uploaded to our servers. Signing out keeps the book on the device. Deleting the account or uninstalling the app removes it from that device.
3. Camera, photos & microphone
Media is created only when you choose Take Photo, Choose Photo, Capture a day, or Voice Memory. Exports to Photos happen when you tap Export Scroll or Export Year Card.
- Camera — photograph a private portrait or a milestone moment.
- Photo Library — choose an existing family photo, and save exported timeline or year-review cards.
- Microphone — record an optional voice memory on a member page. Recording stays on this device.
- Notifications — optional local kinship-day alerts for the current household.
Declining a permission only disables that feature. You can still keep the family book without camera, library, microphone, or reminders.
4. Notifications
Local kinship-day reminders are scheduled on your device for the current household. They are not sent to a server.
5. Tracking
If you allow tracking, Kinora may use an advertising identifier to measure which family-book moments people open — portraits, kinship days, and year cards — so we can improve the cabinet. Keeping your household book, Kin Scroll, and reminders still works if you decline. You can change this later in iOS Settings.
6. Purchases
Kin Points are a consumable in-app currency processed by Apple. We do not collect payment card numbers. Apple’s privacy policy applies to App Store billing.
7. What we do not collect
- No location or contacts
- No public family tree, feed, or chat
- No death countdown or standalone age calculator
- Date Tools stay folded inside a member page
- No sale of personal information
8. Children
Kinora is a family book you keep on your own device. Do not add photos or voice of others without permission. The app is not directed at children under 13 as an account product.
9. Account controls
Log out keeps the private kin book on this device. Delete account clears portraits, days, voices, and Kin Points on this device. There is no cloud restore.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and the copy in the App Store listing.
11. Contact
For privacy questions, use the App Store support channel listed for Kinora or the Terms of Service page on this site.
